Midwest Travels and Fun with Friends

We've had a busy couple of weeks, as we've been traveling around the midwest and enjoying time with friends. We started by spending Memorial Day weekend with my parents in Columbia, MO. It was a great trip and was so nice to be able to spend some time with them. Owen really enjoyed himself but was worn out by the end of the weekend. We thought he'd enjoy a trip to the local air show, but he was not having it. We're hoping that next year he'll be a bit more enthusiastic while we're there!

The following weekend we headed a few hours East to Jasper, IN for one of Ben's childhood friend's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding on a beautiful Spring day. Owen did SO good during the ceremony. I was prepared to make a speedy exit at some point, but he did great. He just sat and played with his cars, ate his lollipop, and commented on the music - "another song mommy?" The reception turned out to be even more fun for him, as he met a fellow 2-year-old named Thomas. He and Thomas took an instant liking to each other and were pretty inseparable the rest of the evening. They cut a rug on the dance floor, but their favorite activity was playing on the putting green at the entrance to the country club. We hope to see Thomas again sometime!

We got back from the wedding on Sunday, and Monday afternoon we welcomed our friends Erin and Ellie Craig for a visit. Erin and I grew up together and have been good friends since 3rd grade. It is really crazy to sit and watch our kids play together. Just crazy... But they enjoyed each other's company very much. They had a blast chasing each other around the house, and held hands for a long time as we all took a walk outside together with Simon. Owen shocked me at one point by running up to Ellie while she was sitting on our ottoman and pushing her off. He is a bit too strong for his own good, and has been becoming more and more physical with his friends lately. It's a new thing for me to try and deal with with him, but we're working on it! Sorry again Ellie! :) I know he really liked her because Ben told me that when he and Owen were upstairs together tonight, out of nowhere Owen said "I had fun with Eh-wee Daddy". Soo cute!
